Egremont Crab Apple Fair

This weekend will take place in Cumbria the West Lake District. We will be staying at a local Inn called the Horn walking distance for the Crab Fair. The accommodation is quite basic but includes breakfast.
The Egremont Crab Apple Fair is one of the oldest Fairs in Britain. Started in 1267 said to have started when the Lord of the Manor wheeled a cart of crab apples into the village for the poor. The crab apples known for there sour sharp taste was said to have started the gurning championships, as it was the face the poor pulled when they bit into the crab apples.
There are many a strange and wonderful events held over the fair such as Climb the Greasy Pole to fetch a leg of Lamb, the Wheelbarrow race, Apple Cart Procession, World Gunning Championship, Cumberland Wrestling, Junior Disco, Choosing the Crab Apple Queen and Talent Show. All of which can be entered by you.
